Request...

My friend's sister has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma and will be coming to MD Anderson for an appointment sometime next week. Right now that is all they know, but please pray for her and her family right now. Her sister is 24 years old and I can only imagine what she is feeling right now. Please remember them in your prayers.

Party Time!

Our friends little boy Jackson had his 3rd birthday party yesterday out in Katy. It was a Super Hero theme and it was too cute! Jenn is so creative and talented....she made all the kids Superman capes with their names on them and had little activity stations all over the backyard...it was great. It was really nice to hang out with a lot of our friends for the afternoon:

Now let me just tell you something about Mac...that is the most easy going child I have ever been around. We can take him anywhere! After the party (we ended up leaving around 9:30 pm) we went to a friends house to hang out until almost midnight. Mac just found a comfy lap to sleep on and that was that. I am so grateful to be able to be able to get out and do things with him without having to worry about him throwing a fit half way through...

Another thing I have discovered, or at least strongly suspect about Mac, is that he and Heisman speak the same language =). Okay, not really, but Mac just "talks" to Heisman anytime he sees him. I guess that means he likes him? Heisman loves to sit and look at Mac or lay next to him on the floor...maybe he figures that if he gets close enough to the kid someone will love on him too!

They look like they just got caught doing something wrong:

Mac's first tooth is arriving quite nicely....there is a small break in the lower gum and I can feel the top of the tooth so it shouldn't be long now! He'll be so handsome with his one stray tooth.

The Scholar...

Eric and I took Mac to school this morning to meet his teachers and a few of his new classmates. He seemed to enjoy it. He will be the youngest kid in the class (by about a month) and that actually makes me happy. I think it may help him to develop earlier if he is surrounded by kids who are a little older. The teachers seemed really nice and I enjoyed talking to the other Mom's that came. It is really amazing to see some of these other kids that are 1-2 months older than Mac. It's kind of like a little window into the future! Here are a few pictures of Mac at school:

Mac was actually eating his feet...the kid wasn't really pinning him down =):

Here is some more important news....we have a tooth! Well, sort of. There is a break in the skin and I can feel the tip of the tooth. Hopefully it will come in soon (I'm sure I will regret that statement the first time I get bit!). He has had a few bad nights that I'm attributing to teething so we'll see how easy or hard this is on him. I love it when babies have a few stray teeth....just so cute!

And here are some pictures of Mac with his new toy....

Away We Go...

Have you ever been really excited and happy but sad and anxious at the same time? Well, that's me. Eric and I are getting ready to leave for Cancun for a few days and as much as I want to go...part of me really doesn't want to! Don't get me wrong, I am so excited to spend some time with Eric and just relax on the beach, but I am really going to miss my little man. We have left him before (for 24 hours), but never for 4 days. I told Eric that we should hire a nanny so we can take Mac with us but still be able to do what we want...he said no =). I know it will be okay and I know that we will have a great time, but I finally understand why people don't want to leave their kids. Mac is finally to that point where he is doing cute things everyday and I don't want to miss anything! I wonder if he will even know that I am gone...or if he'll be excited when I get home. I have a feeling that I will be so happy to get home and see him. I know he will be well taken care of but that doesn't mean I won't worry. I talked to my sister last night and she told me to remember that using my cel phone while in Mexico will cost me an arm and a leg, but I am getting at least 2 short phone calls in while I am gone!...I miss him already!
Oh well, here are some pictures....hopefully I can get on the internet and look at his pictures while I'm away...

Such a Big Strong Man!

Mac is such a big boy now! We went for his 6 month shots today and he didn't even cry! He just looked at the nurse with a mad face, but not a tear. I picked him up and that was that...such a brave little man! Well, not so little anymore. He now weighs 17.7 lbs (50%) and ready for this...27.5 inches which puts him in the 90th percentile. Yes, 90th. I asked twice just to make sure. Who knows...maybe Daddy will have a little football player! I would have never thought that my 5 pound 12 ounce newborn would already be so big. Where are the past 6 months gone?

The doctor also mentioned that Mac would probably start trying to stand with help and sit up by himself soon. I kind of laughed and showed her that Mac has already been doing that for a while. She said I better start baby proofing and to expect him to be crawling in the next month or so! What?!?!? She also said he'll be pulling up not too long after that. I thought I had more time...I guess I'll be chasing him around soon. Hope poor Heisman is ready to run.

Last night I was cracking up at Mac. He, like all babies, LOVES to be naked. I was VERY brave last night and let him just enjoy the nakedness for a little while which turned out to be some of the funniest pictures I have of him.

The boy inherited daddy's butt:

And like any red blooded American male, there is nothing better than watching tv naked:

Always surprised!:

And I just also want to add that I have the greatest husband...it doesn't get any better than this:

Busy Busy Busy...

Wow...we had a busy weekend! After a frantic week of sickness and house cleaning I had my sister's wedding shower at the house on Saturday. It actually turned out really well! She is having a black and white wedding with red accents so I tried to do the same with the shower. I love throwing showers/parties, but I always forget how stressful it is right before. Fortunately everything worked out well. She got a lot of great/useful gifts so I'm happy for her:

My sister has reached that phase of the wedding planning where it is no longer fun and you wish it was just over! (all you married gals out there know what I'm talking about) It is so unfortunate that there is always so much stress surronding a wedding. I remember wanting to pull my hair out by the time Eric and I got married...I think we both slept more on our honeymoon than we have ever slept in our lives! It's so hard to look past all the "stuff" and see the light at the end of the tunnel...she's got less than 2 months until the wedding so hopefully she'll make it! =)

Since my Aunt Barbara was in town we went to dinner after the shower and of course Mac had himself a good old time. He even got to sit in his first resturant high chair.

I love this picture...it looks like Uncle Travis is helping Mac decide on an entree:

Sunday morning was interesting...Mac decided to throw a huge temper tantrum as we were getting ready for church. He didn't want to put clothes on and then once his shoes were on he tried his hardest to rip them off. Fortunantly by the time we got to church he was happy as could be...I guess I would be too if I was the only baby in the nursery and got the undivided attention of 3 women!

That afternoon I went to my friend Malisha's birthday party at a place over in midtown called Pinot and Picasso. It was so much fun. They teach you how to paint and mine was pretty good! Eric was actually impressed...or so he says =)...here is a picture of Mac and Malisha

And here is a group picture after we finished painting:

It was a very busy, but a great weekend overall! Here are some more pictures...enjoy!

Nap Time Woes...

I thought all babies liked to have a nap during the day? What is wrong with my child? He refuses to nap. I don't know if I am supposed to just put him in his crib and let him scream himself to sleep or just let him stay up and play?!? I have even tried letting him sleep on my chest but he is not having it. I need tips! Did any of ya'll have babies that refused to sleep during the day?

And to make it just a little better, I have been sick for a week and a half now. It's not getting better either; it's so much worse. I think I may have lost a lung with the coughing and I am running low grade fevers. Eric and Mac were both sick last week and seem to be much better but I just can't get rid of this. Everything hurts...

One bit of good news; Mac sat up all day himself for over 1 minute. There were a few wobbles in there, but I was so proud of my big boy!
