Vroom Vroom...

Eric is hard to buy for...he will never tell me anything that he wants. ask =). So for his birthday I decided to get him a ride in a race car! I found a place that is only about 15 minutes away and he has always said that this was something he would like to do. The track is pretty big and the guy said they got up to about 140mph! I watched from a little tower and I have to say, there were a couple of times I got a little nervous. I told the driver we had a 3 month old at home so he could scare him...just don't kill him! After he got done with the race track we headed over to the go karts. We bought a session for each of us and it was so much fun! I strongly suggest heading out to this place is you ever get the chance. The whole time we were on them I kept realizing that i had this goofy smile on my face. It was great! You could really get going! We both had out share of spin outs/ending up in the grass, but overall we did pretty good I think!

And of c0urse here are some cute pictures from the week:

Head's Up!

You know how they have the ratings on tv shows now...well I think they should have a special rating for women who are trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, or have a baby! Ever since I got pregnant there are just certain topics that I do not wish to see on tv. Basically anything sad about a child, a mother, or any combination of the two. I saw something today on "The Doctors" about this woman who forgot her baby in the car for 8 hours (I know...I just don't get it either). Obviously the outcome was not good and I found myself sobbing for 20 minutes. "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" are my two guilty pleasures and it seems like almost every week they have some heart wrenching story about a kid. When I was pregnant they did an episode about a pregnant woman who basically had to chose her life or her babies...needless to say I didn't watch a lot of "Grey's" the rest of the pregnancy. All I'm saying is give me a little warning and then I know to turn the tv off! Maybe I'll just stick with the Golden Girls =)

On a lighter note...Mac LOVES being outside. I don't know if it's the sounds or the wind, but whatever it is it calms him down. He just sits and stares. I decided to see how he liked the grass on his feet. I think it tickled him a little because he laughed and laughed. I put a blanket down for him in the yard and I think the feeling of the grass on his back was fun for him...he just kept rocking side to side and kicking his feet...here are some pics of my outdoors man:

And by the way...I really do put clothes on my kid. He just gets so hot that I think he prefers the diaper!

The Numbers Are In...

My little man is turning into a big boy! I weighed him yesterday when I went to yoga...he's 13.04 pounds! We measured him last night and he's exactly 2 feet long. I know they grow up but it was so sad when I had to go and put away all his newborn clothes. And now some of the 0-3 stuff is already too small...I just wish I could freeze time for a little bit and just enjoy this time with him. I guess having your kids grow up is kind of bittersweet =(

Happy Mother's Day...

And a happy day it was! I had such a great Mother's Day...Eric and Mac got me a gift card for Mommy and Me Yoga and some beautiful orchids and hydrangeas. And of course Mac got me the cutest card ever!

But the big event of the day was Mac's baptism. It went so well! We waited until we actually got to the pastor's office to change him into his little white outfit because I just knew he would spit up or something if we did it at the house. He looked ADORABLE! Those little white knee socks just put it over the top.

He was very "chatty" once we got into the sanctuary and when the pastor took him up on the stage he immediately arched his back and thew his head back. I thought he was about to scream, but he was just very interested in the big lights =). Our pastor always shows the baby to the choir, but Mac was way to interested in seeing those lights so he just dipped him backwards for everyone to see. When he turned him around to see the congregation Mac's eyes just popped wide open. Everyone made the "awww" sound...he was so precious!

We were able to get a wonderful group picture after the ceremony. We are missing 6 people in this picture, but you can see how loved this little boy is! We ended up having over 20 people come to see him baptized. Thank you all so much!

After church we all headed back to the Bethea casa for some burgers and hot dogs. Mac of course was the hit of the party...I'm so glad that he's so good at getting passed around from person to person. He got some cute presents for his baptism too. Our friends Karen and David got him the softest blanket...i wish they made them for adults! My grandad made him a little baby cake for the occasion...obviously he couldn't eat it, but I put a little icing on his nose anyway =). My friend Beth made these little "baptism" candies that are so good! And my sister (aka BB) got him the ultimate gift...his first baby bottle of Heinz Ketchup (if you know my family you know that ketchup goes on EVERYTHING!). You gotta start'em young!

Yesterday was a great day. We even took Mac on a walk last night in the Baby Bjorn. I don't think that he ever woke up to find out he was on a walk, but still....

And the topper to all of this...Mac has slept 9 hours the past 2 nights! I am sure I will regret posting that because the last time I posted about his great sleeping habits it came back to get me!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Mommy and Me...

Mac and I just got back from Mommy and Me Yoga! It was pleasantly surprised that it was actually a work out! I kind of expected it to be more about playing with Mac, but I can already tell that I am going to be sore...yeah! Mac laughed during the entire class so I think he actually liked it.

Now I have always enjoyed yoga and have tried different types (Hatha, Bikram, etc.), but I have never been able to really get into the whole meditation/peaceful mind thing. I go to yoga for the physical benefits. I think that the mental aspects are probably real, but I always seem to find myself giggling a little inside when the instructor tells me to "be the tree." I almost lost it a little bit today too. Some of this is also supposed to be for the baby and the instructor comes around right before class and does some reflexology/massage on the baby to calm them. Now I will say, he was fussy when we first walked in and once she started rubbing his feet he almost went into a trance (I need to find out what she did!). That part was great, but then she got down on the floor, laid next to Mac and started telling him that he was beautiful inside and out and that he should relax his body and mind. Really??? First of all, I don't think that Mac understands one word that comes out of my mouth...I mean the funniest thing in the world to him is when I say "poopie" in a high pitched voice...so I seriously doubt that he is really searching for inner peace at this point in his life. He was actually the only baby that didn't cry a little during the class. When we left she told him that he was a "peaceful soul." Again, I smiled and held back a chuckle.

Regardless, I really did enjoy the class and would really like to go once a week...hmmm, now wouldn't that make a nice Mother's Day gift....Eric =)

If anyone is interested in going it's at the Motherhood Center off of West Alabama. You can actually do one class for free (just print the form off the website). Plus they have a bunch of free class/services this month for Mother's Day! (www.motherhoodcenter.com)

Devil Horns...

I just had to share this really quick...I apparently did not get Mac is food as quickly as he wanted it. He does this little pout right before "Mad Mac" comes out...he grabbed his hair with both hands looked at me, screamed, and pulled as hard as he could....this was the result:

Even during a temper tantrum he's a cutie!

Sleep and Weddings

Well, we have yet to repeat another 8 hours of sleep! In fact...I think he was just teasing us! Saturday night he actually woke up every 2 1/2 hours. Ahhh..I'm sure one day I will look back on these sleepless nights with fondness...but for now I just want some sleep.

I think this weekend kind of messed with Mac's sleeping abilities so I'm not sure that it's all his fault. My brother came into town Friday night (that had nothing to do with his sleep...we were in bed when he came in). And then on Saturday we went to my Mom's wedding. Mac slept the entire time were were there other than to take a bottle and change a diaper. Other than that he was out. I think he slept pretty solid from 1pm-6:30pm ish. Needless to say he was not fun that night. Oh well, I guess sleep is overrated anyway!
The wedding was beautiful and it was nice to get to hang out with some of my family that I don't usually get to see. It was a good time. Here are a few pictures:

Not really much else to post. Mac has been really fussy today so I'm hoping that he will sleep well tonight since he didn't during the day!
